Recently added Pay As You Go (PAYG) Mobile phone price comparison data to http://www.pricecap.co.uk

Took me nearly a month to manage this data. Which suggests that the process of gathering and sorting the data is nowhere near quick enough to manage this site on my own.

Question is what do I do now?

I also need to start thinking about some low cost marketing ideas. When I say low cost I really mean zero cost as reflected by my budget!

As a ltd company can I justify getting finance to try and give http://www.pricecap.co.uk sort of leverage i.e a marketing budget and help in gathering and sorting data, I may see if this is a way forward but until then I think digital cameras are next on the list.

Just added price comparison data for LCD TVs and Plasma TVs.
In the region of 3000 rows of data had to be sorted for the addition of the TVs.
I found this very difficult and tedious.
if this process can be streamlined then this would improve the content I could add to http://www.pricecap.co.uk also the turn around time for adding useful price comparison data.

I have not even had time to think about how I am going to market http://www.pricecap.co.uk, otherwise, no on is ever going to get the chance to see the site let alone use it.

Next I think I will add price data for Digital Cameras.
I wonder how long this will take?

The comparison data for Laptops has been loaded to http://www.pricecap.co.uk and boy that was a slog!

Must be the worst part of publishing this site is the fact that the data is a nightmare to sort.
Over 1500 entries loaded for laptops so a fair few, but again I am finding it very difficult to sort this data before I load it into the database.

It took me a week to sort this data, which I think is slow, but I will have to persist until I get some useful tools to aid me.

Also I have to start thinking about I will get people directed to http://www.pricecap.co.uk, as the entertainment world would say "Bums on seats", THE NEXT BIG HURDLE!!!

Next load of comaprison data I will go for is data for TVs, a favourite im sure youll agree.

Hi all

Progress so far:

Managed to sort some useful data for comparing DAB radios on http://www.Pricecap.co.uk

It takes a lot of time to manage the product feeds provided by the Affiliate Networks, as they come in many different formats, and structures.

What I need is nifty tool that will process the data for me as i need. So all I have to do is then suck that data into the database and hey presto!

I am currently using OpenOffice.org to manage the data with some scripting to sort the data as required. But it is still very time consuming due to the mass of the and I repeat the varying formats and structures.

Will move on to providing some comparisons for Laptops next: Lets see if I can do this any quicker?

My attempt at becoming a web publisher!
What to I mean by (web publisher)?
A creator of websites that contains useful content that is utilised by the masses.

And if possible enable me to make some £££££.

My first attempt at this venture comes in the form of

http://www.pricecap.co.uk

A product comparison website akin to that of pricereunner or shopping.com

http://www.pricecap.co.uk has been put together using the core technology elements as listed below

Scripting Languages: PHP and HTML
Database Technology: MYSQL
Server Side Software: Apache

Products have been sourced (And many more still needed) from affiliations with suppliers gained via affiliation networks.

The key issue that I am finding at the moment is how to manage that sheer masses of data in a structured manner so it can be of some use to the user. After considerable effort putting the framework together for http://www.pricecap.co.uk I know find myself bogged down in product data ahhhhhh!.

Ah well i will proceed on and see how far I get , looking to add some comparisons for DAB Radios first and work from there.
